The Mysterium Populus Puzzle
During Chikara’s High Noon IPPV there was a brief commercial between matches that showed “@MysteriumP” in white lettering over a black background. No explanation was given as to who this was or why it existed, but clearly the @ signified a twitter handle.
When you go to the twitter homepage of MysteriumP you see the full name Mysterium Populus and “If I don’t promise you the answers would you go” in the profile section. No tweets, no followers. A quick google search of “if I don’t promise you the answers would you go” leads you to Pink Floyd’s “What Do You Want From Me” off the The Division Bell album. Dig a little deeper and it leads you to Publius Enigma. It is here that we find out exactly what Mysterium Populus is or could be. From Wiki:
The Publius Enigma is a mystery involving a riddle proposed in connection with the 1994 Pink Floyd album The Division Bell. It originated on the Internet as a Web-based contest implemented to promote the album and its tour, possibly an early example of viral marketing. It remains unclear whether or not the enigma is a genuinely solvable puzzle, as certain details regarding the true nature of the challenge have never been revealed.
Luckily for us, Chikara is awesome and we don’t have to worry if this thing will be solvable or if there will be a resolution. Chikara has a history of not letting down their fans and this will definitely end up being worthwhile.
The first ten answers have been found, but this doesn’t mean you can’t start the contest today and still win. In fact, right now is the best time to get started as the contest is just getting going and if the site is to believed this thing will be going all year long until the season 11 finale(?).
Where to get started: Follow @MysteriumP on twitter. He doesn’t tweet, but he does follow back. Maybe he’ll thank you for following him? He Does Make friends.
HINTS FOR THE FIRST TEN:
- Pay attention to numbers.
- Don’t over think it. They are all solvable. Even if you have to go into your DVD collection.
- If you get stuck on #2 Mysterium Populus can help.
- Don’t get stressed. Order some chai tea if necessary.
- Know your Chikara references. Many shows are named after something. ie Aniversario and the Super Friends
- Know your comics. This comic to Chikara cover post may help.
- Google is your friend.
The answers are out there and they can be found online without thinking, but it’s not as fun that way. If you get stuck ask me for a hint and I’ll give you one, but trust me this thing is a lot more fun without the spoilers. Take this from someone who had answers spoiled for him.
Good luck!
